My question is this.
If drivers get a dollar raise like some on here say, and drivers will be at 37.00+, why would UPS not be looking for more options to move packages with Union Pacific or the post office? They are already doing it now. When I started in '89, I got 8.00 an hour and was fully insured after 30 days. 8.00 was more than double minimum wage. Now, 8.50 is barely over minimum wage and the benefits take up to 18 months to kick in. Greed on behalf of the union for full timers will be what kills the teamsters, imo. I am fortunate to have gone driving when I did, and am in the top 10% in a large center. Drivers in the bottom third right now still have no route and often get laid off. If drivers get more money, we likely will be delivering less stops.
