For drivers: Stay hydrated. Get organized. Always keep your next few stops set up and ready to go on the shelf. Set up the bulk stops at the back on the floor so you can push them right out onto your cart at the stop. Keep your air deliveries, ground deliveries, air pickups, and ground pickups segregated. if you can, concentrate on businesses earlier in the day until you become accustomed to your route. You can always come back for residentials. Get a good flashlight or spotlight for finding house numbers in the dark and so you can see where you're walking. Take note of where you should be along the route at certain times of day to keep things running smooth. When in doubt, call for an air recovery, it's not worth getting back to the building with your air pickups late. Don't deliver late air, don't have missed pieces, don't have accidents or injuries, and follow the methods. As long as you do those four there's not much they can do to you.

For belt workers: Stay hydrated. You will be sore for the first couple weeks but your muscles will get used to it. Work as quick as you can but don't overexert yourself. You have nothing to prove; get help lifting heavier stuff. Make a game out of it: have races, tell jokes, or play jenga; it makes the time go much faster and more enjoyable.
Have races what do u mean

When is a person guaranteed work? If you hit seniority are you guaranteed 5 days of 3.5 hours minimum as a preloader? I've heard everything from 30 days until a solid schedule, or 90 days, or 180 days with 80 days worked. And never if you're not in the union.

Also when does peak begin? Seasonal hires? October 1 right?

Thanks much.

whats up ladies and gents. Day 4 of sup training tomorrow. First few days went ok. Sup spent a lot of time yelling on the phone as we drove. I really didn't get a lot of specific info on Diad other then DR and sign. Yeah, important stuff... But still kinda nervous on the inside AM and PM. didn't really show me what too look for before heading out other then "find your next day airs" as we rushed out of the building as he yelled to everyone to leave and going at the pre loaders. I'm actually quite nervous to say the least. Still learning the area to. Any info for a nervous new guy?

PS... Im sure you guys will get a kick out of this. The building manager for my hub Called me out on my Hipster pants! HA HA!! Have pants on order. first time having a company call me out for wearing pants that fit. Oh well....... Cheers!

Just got cleared for rehire, I was debating between hourly or pt sup, what is the pay now for package handlers just starting and what is the starting pay for pt sups, I am 50 and its been 7 years when i left, I started as package in 2004 and did 5 years pt local sort sup, are the benefits better nowfor sups or are they even more expensive than they were in 2010, anyone know what the family plan costs for health insurance for a pt sup?

If your asked to go back out and help. Do we have the option of saying no ? Cause taking 35-40 stops after a 180 stop day is pretty BS. Jw ?
Work as directed. Although that would be considered extra work and should offered top down and forced bottom up. So if someone with less seniority than you gets to go home while you are forced to do extra work, then you can grieve it.

My advice is short. Do what you have to do, to pass probation. Get yourself in, before you start fighting any fights you will lose. Get in (pass probation), familiarize yourself, get to know who (really) knows what's up, and watch yourself. Don't rush into battles. Management is very good at spotting a future problem and fighting present ones. Get your footing first. That guy who's always in the office and walks out like "just another day", has been through a lot of battles with them. Just an ongoing chess match. Management and driver know each other well. You are not that guy, , , , , yet!
Okay, it wasn't that short!

I assume you haven't passed probation. In which case, I don't think you have any rights. Even if you do, I wouldn't advise you to push them. You have no weight. NONE! ZERO! NADA! #1 priority is to pass probation. Don't complain. Just do it, , , for now.
